He was predeceased by: his wife Katie Beard DeSoto; and his parents, Firmin DeSoto and Estelle Ducote DeSoto. He is survived by: his children, Brinda Normand of Bogalousa, Judy DeSoto of Kenner, Terry DeSoto (June Andrus DeSoto) of Metairie, Gerald DeSoto (Michelle Pleak DeSoto) of Escondido, CA, Darrell DeSoto (Jannice Hales DeSoto) of Bogalousa, Barry DeSoto of Bogalousa and Jeffrey DeSoto of Kenner; and his brother Cecil DeSoto (Louise Rutledge DeSoto) of Lafayette. He is also survived by grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
