He was predeceased by: his parents, George Gerard and Madora JeanBaptiste Gerard; his siblings, Irvin Gerard (Marjorie), Elmo Gerard, Sr. (Volina) and Delores Gerard Jones (Martin); and his brothers-in-law, Irvin Trahan and George Viltz.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Jacquet Gerard; his daughter Brenda Gerard Riley; his grandchildren, Teriana Evans and Jaden Riley of Youngsville, LA; his great grandchild Kamren Hamilton; and his sisters, Elva Gerard Trahan of Houston, TX and Gladys Gerard Viltz of Houston, TX. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
