He was predeceased by: his parents, Dupre Courvelle and Lena Cormier; his son Byron Courvelle; his sister Maudrie Leger; and his granddaughter Kimberly Cathey.
He is survived by: his wife Florita Guillory Courvelle of Lafayette; his children, Gene Courvelle of Scott, Peggy Courvelle Thibodeaux (Billy) of Sunset, Lydia Menard (Edridge) of Sunset and Leslie Cathey of Lafayette; his daughter-in-law Nelda Sistrunk (Jamie); and his brother Gerald Courvelle of Sunset. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
