He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Joseph Champagne and Mary Lou Dupuis Champagne; his stepfather Oscar "Bill" Thibodeaux; his grandparents, William, Hilda Dupuis, Renee and Celestine Champagne; his grandsons, Cody Champagne, Seth Champagne and Lance Champagne; and his brother-in-law James Thibodeaux.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Theriot Champagne of Lafayette; his children, Richard Joseph Champagne (Mona) of Lafayette, Michael James Champagne of Lafayette, Shane David Champagne (Tina) of Des Allemands and Jessica Maria Guilbeau (Kirk) of Carencro; his grandchildren, Ashley Patout (Drew), Brandi Champagne (Sam Riehl), Kallie Champagne, Jeanne Guilbeau, Alaina Guilbeau, James Guilbeau, Kayla Champagne and Taylor Champagne; his great grandchildren, Audrey, Amélie, Sutton, Annabelle, Mariella and Nicholas; and his stepsiblings, Patrick Thibodeaux (Rose) of Parks and Verna Mae Thibodeaux of Port Arthur, TX..
