He was predeceased by: his mother Linda "Skipper" Gray of Lafayette, LA; and his grandparents, Kay, Glen "Buddy" Gray, Mildred and Patrick Kelly.

He is survived by: his former wife Kristy Broussard Kelly; his children, Patrick Dean and Kaylynn Marie of Lafayette, LA; his father Patrick Jerry Kelly (Linda Marie) of Savage, Minnesota; and his siblings, Christopher Kelly (Kaju) of Eagan, MN, Tim Kelly (Tammy) of Lafayette, LA, Tony Boik (Stephanie) of Fort Thomas, KY and Tracy Jasken (Jon) of Shakopee, MN.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Matthew's name to St. Michael's Center for Veterans, 425 St. John Street, Lafayette, LA.
