He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Cook and Tressa Parrish; his daughter Jina L. Cook; and his sister Dorothy C. Maddox. He is survived by: his wife Jean Meeker Cook; his children, Richard J. Cook (Christine), Lori Cook Comeaux (Michael) and Toni B. Cook (Martin); and his grandchildren, Jenifer Bordelon and Ryan Bordelon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to Miles Perret Cancer Services and Acadiana Animal Aid.
