She was predeceased by: her husband Alpheus Allen Gates; and her son Larry Arthur Gates. She is survived by: her children, Wayne Allen Gates, David Arlen Gates, Diane Gates Bodker and Karen Gates Wood. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.
