With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gyrthel Dewey Whiddon of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who passed away on May 13, 2023 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, Julius Mark "Buddy" Dewey and Jerry Wade Whiddon; her son Kevin Ray Dewey; her parents, James Anatol Knight and Sunshine Young Knight; and her siblings, Elaine Silliman, Ola Marie "Tincy" McClendon, James "Buddy" Knight, Jr. and Linda Kay Knight.
She is survived by: her daughters, Janice Dewey Guidry and Sharon Whiddon Vincent (Shane); her daughter-in-law Elizabeth "Liz" Dewey; her grandchildren, Meagan Laviolette (Mason), Cody Schulze (Josie) and Alexander Dewey; and her great grandchild Paisley Rose Schulze.
Memorial donations may be made to University Methodist Church Building Fund.
