He is survived by : his mother Charlotte Lasyone Powell; his wife Bridget Powell; his children, Gavin Powell and Mary Bergen (Joel); his grandchildren, Emery, Hadley and Jax; his sister April Schadler; and his parents-in-law, Vicki and J. R. Mire.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in his name be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Shreveport, LA.
