He was predeceased by : his parents, Georgia Mae Nelson and Joe Nelson, Sr.; his siblings, Johnny Nelson, George Roberts and Pearl Nelson; his nephews, Kendrick Abraham and Clifton Nelson; and his sister-in-law Patricia Nelson.
He is survived by : his children, Farrah Sewell (John), Melanie Hall, Joe Nelson III, JoRay Hall (Saundra), Dexter Hall and Joel Brown (Yolanda); his brothers, Charlie Nelson, Roy Nelson, James Roberts, Sherman Brooks and Leonard Williams; and his wife Sheila Dorty. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
