He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl E. Bankston Sr. and Ola Maythel Averett Bankston; his sister Bobbie Jean Bankston Wilkinson; his brother-in-law William E. Wilkinson Sr.; his niece Wanda J.; and his cousin William H. Bankston Sr..

He is survived by : his wife Georgiana Boudreaux Bankston; his children, Treva Bankston Hernandez (Colby) and Earl A. "Trey" Bankston III (Mychol); his nephew William "Eddie" Wilkinson (Kimberley); his siblings-in-law, Anita Boudreaux Garner (Richard), Brian (Marina), Carl (Gail), Barry (Saskia), Chris (Lisa) and Dickie (Janell); and his grandchildren, Caroline, Chandler Hernandez and Hayes Bankston.
