He was predeceased by: his child Christian Christopher Colar; and his parents, Joseph David Colar and Mary Olivia Henry. He is survived by: his wife Antoinette Brown Colar; his sons, Henry "Hank" Joseph Colar, Jr., Stephen Anthony Colar, Sr. (Tanya) and Aaron David Colar (LaTanya); and his siblings, Rudolf Colar, Tyrone Vincent Colar, Sr. (Deidra), Debra Colar Atkins (Perry), Linda Colar Rascoe (EJ) and Verona Colar White Hurst (Efrem). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
