He is survived by: his wife Regina Gonzales Hinson; his sons, Addison Hinson and Zachary Hinson; his parents, Vernon Sr. Hinson and Wanda Hinson; his brother Curtis "Bill" (Renee); his mother-in-law Elaine Gonzales (late Ramos "NeNe"); and his siblings-in-law, Veronica Nicholas (Ken) and Ramos Gonzales (Laurie). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins.

“Man, I can't believe this. I knew Vernon back when we attended La. Tech, together, in the early 1990's. He and Bill lived across the hall from my roommate, Buddy Sirikul, and me on the 11th floor of Neilson Hall. We generally kept our doors open, so we could get a cross-breeze. We played all sorts of intramural sports together and became good friends. I'm sure going to miss him, and I want to express my heart-felt sympathies to Regina, their sons, and Bill. He will truly be missed.”
