She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey W. Wood and Ruby Flowers Wood. She is survived by: her significant other Gene Waalk; her sons, Jay Waalk (Jehane), Robert Waalk and Kevin Waalk; her grandchildren, Jacob (Yukairi), Noah, Jaylie, Landon, Anderson, Greyson, Caleb and Ellis; her great grandchildren, Kao Yamaura, Renki Yamaura, Naru Yamaura and Sora Yamaura; her sister Sandra Whittington; her sibling's children, Wendy Burrus (Gary), Richard Whittington and William Whittington (Lauren); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Ben, Nathan, Grey, Mathew, Caroline Whittington and Charolette Whittington.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church (4390 Old Sterlington Rd, Monroe, LA 71203). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery (623 US-80, Monroe, LA 71203).
