She was predeceased by: her former husband Genaro Martinez; her grandchildren, Wendell James and Juwaun N. James; her great grandchild Wendell Allen; her siblings, Herman, Ernest James, Catherine Washington, Dora Lee Brumfield, Cora Bell Dennis and Myrtle Brumfield; and her sister-in-law Mary L James.
She is survived by: her daughter Helen Shorty (James); and her siblings, Herbert B. James Sr., Clarence L James Sr. (Fannie) and Pauline Barbarain. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
