John Arthur Raines Jr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Arthur Raines Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 2, 2025 at the age of 59. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Arthur "Smiley" Raines, Sr. and Allaine J. Martin; his sons, John Arthur Raines, III and Samuel Raines; his brother Kevin T. Raines; his nephew Kendall Raines; his great-niece Jordyn Ancar; and his grandparents, Ruby Turner, George and Naomi T. Martin.
He is survived by: his children, Shawn Jones, Janae Thomas, Jhontei Raines and Ja'Niana Raines; and his siblings, Naomi Ruby Mark, Larry Raines, Michael Raines, Elvetta Raines (Sedrick), Anthony Raines (Sequoia) and Clarence Raines. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Bethany United Methodist Church (4533 Mendez St, New Orleans, LA 70126). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
