He is survived by: his parents, Pamela Gay and John Francis Bel, Sr.; his significant other Sean Neary; his sisters, Aimee B. Crimmins (David, Jr.) and Ashley B. LeCompte (Lucas); his siblings' children, David III and Olivia; and his godmother Barbara Mackenzie (Fraser). He is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southern Animal Foundation, an organization John felt strongly about.
