She was predeceased by: her parents, Ervin Ruffin, Sr. and Mae Byrd Perkins Ruffin; her husband Lawrence "Papa" Batiste; her children, Paula Denise Batiste and Lawrence Antoine Batiste; and her siblings, Dorothy Jean Ruffin Winston, Frenchie Ruffin, James Ruffin and Ervin Ruffin, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Lynette Batiste Offner (Kirby), Antonio Batiste (Lolita) and Yvette Batiste Ingram (Ted); her grandchildren, Kayce Ingram Greene (Caleb), Antonio Javon Batiste, II (Deunka), Alexis Batiste and Jared Ingram; her great grandchildren, Kailye Grace Batiste, Tatum Reese Batiste and Antonio Javon Batiste; her sisters, Vyrdye Hopes, Clementine Spells and Gwendolyn Johnson; her brothers-in-law, Raymond (Lisa) of Washington, John Anderson (Barbara) and Joseph Anderson; her extended family, Beverly Batiste and Gary Jackson; and her close friends, Patricia Twiggs Dunmore, Laura Hicks and Florence Smythe-McCaulin. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
