He is survived by: his wife Letitia Trahan Dartez of Opelousas, LA; his son James Shelton Dartez, Jr. (Idasha) of Lafayette, LA; his stepchildren, Marcus James of Lafayette, LA and LaDawn Kennerson of Opelousas, LA; and his grandchildren, Ashlynn, James III, Marcus, Briasha, Alacia, Chace, Kiara, Jonas and Jaxon. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (417 Saizan Ave, Port Barre, LA 70577). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
