She was predeceased by : her husband J. W. Brister; her son Terry Brister; her parents, Alex Gordon Sr. and Mary Gordon; and her brother John Gordon.

She is survived by : her children, Tony Brister (Laquita) of Lake Charles and Teresa Atkins of Lake Charles; and her siblings, Alex "Bug" Gordon, Jr. (Joyce) of McNary, Alice Kemp of Pitkin, Judie McCoy of Oakdale and Pat Farris (Larry) of Glenmora. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
