She was predeceased by : her daughter Dawn Oxedine; her parents, Gladys Johnson and Carroll Johnson; and her brother David Johnson. She is survived by : her daughters, Heather Huckaby (Michael) and Karen Perry (James); her grandchildren, Rebecca Pitre, Michelle Huckaby, Christopher Huckaby, Zachary Huckaby, Noah Perry, Maddox Perry, Jensen Perry, Riley Dwyer and Teagan Farley; her siblings, Jimmy Johnson (Janet) and Farrenda Wood; and her son-in-law Randy Oxedine.

She was known for creating beautiful pieces and donated many to the Leukemia Foundation. Mary Sue donated her body to science with the hope of helping others.
