He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Pate and Lola Bell Wallace Pate; his siblings, Francis Pate, Kenneth Pate and Dickie Pate; and his daughter-in-law Pat Weir.
He is survived by: his wife Werdna Mae Pate of Port Barre; his children, Johnny Pate, Jr. of Port Barre, Will Pate (Rene) of Cedar Part, Kay Pate Fontenot (Clyde) of Lawtell, Pam Pate Martinez (John) of Jarrell and Angel Pate Baldree (Kevin) of Round Rock; his sister Anna Bell Adian of Burnet; and his grandchildren, Blake Fontenot, Danielle Prater, Justin Sullivan, Meagan Ross, Aaron, Zachary, Sadie Martinez, Jake and Brett Pate. He is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren.
