He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thomas Austin and Mattie Larance Herring; his sons, Mike Herring (Jo Sharon) of Bernice, David Herring (Gwen) of Dubach and James "Dude" Herring of Farmerville; his daughter-in-law Susan Herring of Homer; his wife Monnie D. Herring; his granddaughter Melody Jane Herring; his son Virgil W. "Bill" Herring; and his grandsons, Jamey Herring, Michael Herring Jr, Josh Herring, Luke Herring, Ethan Herring and David Wayne Herring. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Grace Bible Baptist Church, 216 Rough Edge Road, Ruston, LA 71270.
