He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Lee and Elena Ruoppoli Mathews of Alexandria; and his siblings, George Mathews, Jo Vance of Boyce and Daniel Mathews (Danny) of Alexandria.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Lynn Mathews (Lane), Jeffrey Scott Mathews (Deni), Jeremy Todd Mathews (Greta), Joseph Blaine Mathews (Andrea), Joshua Shane Mathews (Donna), Jennifer Leigh McCarter (Richard) and Jill Leanne Stripling (Chris); his grandchildren, Daniel Mathews, Bradley Mathews, Zeb Mathews, Mackenzie Mathews-McDonald, Jessica Carney, Toby Mathews, Alex Mathews, Aiden Mathews, Hillary McCarter, Samantha Mathews, Hannah Mathews, Lavendar Stripling, Caden Mathews, Stormey Wigley (Rosa), Emma Mathews, Landry Stripling, Sophia Mathews, Kayla Mathews, Ryleigh McCarter and Kinsley McCarter; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Mathews and Barbara Mathews. He is also survived by nine Great Grandchildren, two Step Grandchildren and four Step-Great Grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM and on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM.
