He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Butcher and Elsie Butcher; his wife Anniece Butcher; his siblings, Dora Smith, Edgar and Donald Butcher; and his nephew Michael Smith.

He is survived by: his daughter Renae Massie (Dale) of Temple, TX; his grandson Christopher Massie; and his great grandchildren, Kimberlee Massie and Jason Massie of Saint Mary, GA..
