He is survived by: his son Howard L. Cater (Janie) of Harrisonburg; his brother Thomas L. Cater of Harrisonburg; his grandchildren, Laurel Crouch (Larry) of Monteray, Lee Cater (Staci) of Harrisonburg and Clay McGuffee (Mistin) of Harrisonburg; his great grandchild Lissa Schnieder; and his children, Laurel Crouch and Lee Cater.
