He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Clair Jones Herring and Frank Gautier Herring; his wife Melanie Jane McClerkin Herring; and his daughters, Emily Clair Herring Racioppa (David Patrick Racioppa), Hannah Jeanette Herring Swift (Richard Boyd Swift) and Amanda "Mandy" Lynne Herring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or Northshore Humane Society are preferred.
