He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Campbell and Gladys Marie Branch Campbell. He is survived by: his wife Helen Goocher Campbell; his children, Denise Campbell Baugh, John Sherwood Campbell (Lea Anne) and Karla Marie Aycock (Stevie); his grandchildren, Dana Michelle Ridgway, Ellery Layne Gorman (Justin), Raley Nicole Aycock, Joe Dan Baugh and Mallary Marie Aycock; his great grandchildren, Brantley Dean Kent, Slaid Gorman, Chassis Layne Gorman, Maddie Marie Gorman and Rowan James Aycock; and his sister-in-law Kate Sherman (Eddy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
