He was predeceased by: his parents, Savio Fontenot and Ella McGee Fontenot; his wife Mable D. Fontenot; his son Bobby "Hockey" Fontenot; and his siblings, Melvin Fontenot, Ozema Fontenot, Earline Fontenot and Betty Sylvester.
He is survived by: his sons, Jody Fontenot (Cynthia) of Ville Platte and Jerry "Costello" Fontenot (Laura) of Ville Platte; and his grandchildren, Cherie Fontenot Barnes, Melanie Fontenot, Dustin Fontenot, Jamie Fontenot Vidrine, Monique Fontenot Ardoin, Natalie Fontenot Olivier, Brooks Fontenot, Gabrielle Fontenot and Lincoln Fontenot. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
