He was predeceased by: his sisters, Alice Havel and Laurine Kreipe; and his parents, Michael Riedel and Anna Riedel. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Vickers Moore Riedel; the mother of his children Sharon L. Riedel; his sons, Brian Riedel (Lynne) and Eric Riedel; his grandchild Aylin Altan; his brother Michael Jr. Riedel (Jennette); and his grandchildren, Evan Riedel, Julius Riedel, Erika Riedel, Felix Riedel and Claire Riedel.
