He was predeceased by : his parents, Willie Sr. Hymel and Martha Landry Hymel; his son Jason Gerard Hymel; his grandson Justin Paul Hymel; and his siblings, Alma Hymel, Neva Hymel Bolotte, Allen Bill Hymel, Earl "Dut" Hymel, Gerald Hymel, Willie Hymel, Jr., Thomas Hymel and Shirley Hymel Sotile.

He is survived by : his wife Emily Simoneaux Hymel; his sons, Kevin Hymel, Glenn Hymel (Niky Joubert Hymel) and Darin Hymel (Samuel Walter); his grandchildren, Megan Hymel Tuminello, Magan Wilkins, Russel Hymel and Willem Hymel; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Addison Seneca and Julian Tuminello; and his brothers, Gary Hymel (Peggy) and Terry Hymel (Barbara). He is also survived by His loving wife, son, and grandsons.
