He was predeceased by : his parents, Homer Melancon and Olive Melancon; and his siblings, Joesph Melancon, Ann Waters and Nursley Langlinais.

He is survived by : his son Eagle Scouts; his wife Isabelle H. Melancon; and his children, Stephen Melancon of Baton Rouge, LA, Michael Melancon of Bronson, TX, Norma Guidroz (Timothy) of Broussard, Connie Melancon (Douglas Duhon) of Church Point, LA, Lisa Dehart of Lafayette and Mary Hubbell (Thomas) of Thibodeaux, LA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
