He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Townsend and Sophie McHenry Townsend; his siblings, Gertrude McKowen (Alex) and Ike Townsend (Frances); and his nephew Bill Townsend.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Ray White Townsend; his children, Helen Diane Townsend Spohrer (John), Jeffrey Craig Townsend (Paulette) and George Barry Townsend; and his sibling's children, Brenda Bonham (David), Terri Richmond (Randy), Alex McKowen and Hewitt Townsend.
