Rodger Summers Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rodger Summers of Abington, Massachusetts, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 3, 2020 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Pamela Summers; his parents, Benjamin Summers Sr. and Viola Summers (Kemerlin); and his siblings, Thelma Spells, Essie Crew, Elizabeth Little and Clarence Summers.
He is survived by: his children, Megan Bernard (Doug) of Abington and Jordan Summers (Olivia Breen) of Cambridge; his grandchildren, Theodore and Vivien Bernard; his siblings, Benjamin Summers, Jr. of North Carolina, Reverend Moses E. Summers and Ruby Simpkins; and his sister-in-law Doretha Summers of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Mosaic Center for Students of Color at the University of Vermont (https: //http://www.uvm.edu) for the Rodger Summers Award which recognizes undergraduate students of color who have affected the UVM community of color through their leadership and vision.
