He was predeceased by: his father Joseph M. Hamel, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Janice C. Hamel (Petroski); his wife Dawn Hamel (Scales); his children, Joseph M. Hamel, III (Amanda Michaels) and Olivia L. Hamel; his sisters, Barbara J. Ruzzoli and Allison R. Dahlquist (Michael); his siblings' children, Krystal, Matthew, Katheryn, Elizabeth, Laura, Michael and Samuel; and his great-nieces, Nissa, Lilly and Riley.
Due to the current pandemic, burial will be held privately at a later date.
