He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Irving Gerber and Frieda Gerber (Nedal); his wife Maryanne Gerber (Mulia); his son Matthew Gerber of New York, NY; his stepchildren, Melissa Torres of Brooklyn, NY and Jason Torres of San Diego, CA.; his grandchildren, Brianna, Alcides, Sadie and Luke; his great grandchild Kathleen; and his siblings, Marsha Bergen of New York, NY, Herbert Gerber of Newton, MA, Leonard and Myron Gerber. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
