He was predeceased by: his parent Joseph W. Schmitz. He is survived by: his parent Joan M. Schmitz (Moar) of Brockton; and his siblings, Thomas W. Schmitz of Rockland, Joseph C. Schmitz of Quincy, Kenneth M. Schmitz of Brockton, Douglas W. Schmitz of Whitman, Brian P. Schmitz of Dorchester and Laurie A. Schmitz of Quincy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
