He is survived by: his spouse Maria; his parents, Jose Alves Monteiro and Margarida Lopes Araujo; and his children, Maria Teresade of Pina Monteiro, Alvaro Alves Monteiro, Alice Monteiro Veiga, Margarida Alves Monteiro, Elsa Livramento Santos Fernandes and Claudio Madaleno Fernandes Monteiro. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren and 7 siblings.
