He is survived by: his wife Ann Aickelin (Fillekes); his children, Elizabeth A. Aickelin (Peter Nilles) of California, Ronald A. Aickelin (Debbie) of Georgia and Carrie L. Walls (Daniel) of Connecticut; his grandsons, Nicholas Aickelin (Lindsey), Joshua Walls, Alexander Walls and Daniel McCarthy; his sister Suse Weidle of Germany; and his sister-in-law Elizabeth "Bet" Sympson of New York. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
