She was predeceased by: her brothers, Kenneth and Edward. She is survived by: her children, Rodney Ruggiero (Mary), Lori Mc Mahon and Nikki Ruggiero (Mary Willallen); her grandchildren, Amy Ruggiero, Jonathan Ruggiero and Tara Murphy; and her brother Ronald Smigel.
In Lieu of flowers it was the wish of Shirley's family that donations be made in her memory to: St. Jude Children's Hospital.
