He was predeceased by : his former life partner Diane F. Smithson of Hingham, MA; and his parents, George Smithson and Tina F. Smithson of West Yarmouth. He is survived by : his wife Patricia Hughes Smithson; his daughters, Lynne Smithson-Ford (Kevin Ford) of Hanover, MA and Sara Smithson (Ellie Keohane) of Hingham; his grandchildren, Dominic and Christian Ford of Hanover; his brother Donald G. Smithson (Gail) of Brewster, MA.; his stepchildren, Fiona (Kevin McDonnell) of Hollis, Diane Hughes (Ray), Sara Hughes (William Greentree) of Bexley and David Hughes (Sandra Nicholson) of Cohasset; his grandsons, Alexander Wood (Helen), Owen McDonnell of Portsmouth, NH and Henry Greentree of Bexley; and his great grandchildren, George, Ivy and Jessica Wood. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
