It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thayne Foster Symmes (Danvers, Massachusetts), born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, who passed away on September 21, 2018, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his spouse Karin Symmes (Hurd); his son David Symmes; his son-in-law Randolph Emerson; and his siblings, Helen Love, Hazel Coleman, Gwendolyn Melanson, Laurence Symmes and Donald Symmes.
He is survived by: his parents, Charles Atwood and Abbie Melissa Symmes (Southard); his children, Susan Emerson of South Portland, Linda Monagle of York, Bruce Symmes (Cathy) of Danvers and Keith Symmes (Faith) of Essex; his daughter-in-law Sally Symmes of Danvers; and his grandchildren, Erik Emerson, Brian Emerson, Laurel Peterson, Melissa West, Matthew Symmes, Rebecca Lee, Madeline Monagle, Jason Symmes, Meghan Beaulieu, Jessica Bowen, Jenny Johnson and Judson Symmes. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
