He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille C. Smith and Thomas J. Smith; his granddaughter Ayana N. Quinnie; and his wife Laura B. Smith. He is survived by: his children, David L. Smith Jr., Ann-Marie Quinnie and Jasyn C. Smith; his grandchildren, Yuri J. Quinnie II and Jada N. Smith; his former wife Zinny A. Smith; his brother Robert L Smith (Rachel); his siblings' children, Kenneth V. Davis (Kara) and Tracy A. Payne (Charles) of Texas; his sister Karen Lewis (Harrison); and his aunts, Carrie Hull-Chandler of Lewiston and Francis Fitts (Ronald) of Boston. He is also survived by cousins and friends.
