He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Evans and Marion Yates Evans; his sister Dorothy Evans; his daughter Cynthia Dove Evans; his nephew John Evans Sr.; and his daughters, Hazel Chase of Mattapan and Sylvia Steel of Birmingham.
He is survived by: his children, Sheila Evans Bennett of Maryland, Gladys Evans Triplett of Roxbury, Donna Evans Scott of Hyde Park, Wilbur Evans Jr. (Margaret) of Randolph and Anthony M. Evans of Roxbury; and his great great grandchild Elizabeth "Betty" Moore. He is also survived by 5 children, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, at the family's request, donations may be made the Wilbur Evans, Sr. Scholarship Fund.
