She was predeceased by: her husband Dwain W. Bernat; her parents, Annie Theresa Coulter (Mullen) and Leo T. Mullen; and her sister Ellen "Sis" Dillon of Dracut. She is survived by: her sister Patricia; her brother-in-law John DeFreitas of Lowell; her stepsister Judith Barber of Dracut; her goddaughter Marjorie Thibodeau; her nephews, Gregory Dillon of Dracut, William Dillon of Dracut and James Dillon of Lowell; and her friend Elinor Rafferty of Nashua. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
