He was predeceased by: his wife Theresa M. Butler (Mercier); his son Rene Butler of Lancaster; and his siblings, Denis Butler of Gardner, George J. Butler of Fitchburg, Delrose Cormier of Oakham and Theresa Belletete of North Carolina.
He is survived by: his children, Paul L. (Karen Butler), George W. (Renda Butler), Gerald C. (Rhonda Butler), JoAnne M. Chirico of Gloucester and Janice P. Potter (Bobby Potter) of Fitchburg; and his daughter-in-law Carol Butler of Sterling. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
