He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur S. Sobey and Katherine M. Sobey (MacDonald); his spouse Kathryn E. Sobey (Toole); and his sisters, Laura, Margaret Burke, Vera DeDoming and Judy.

He is survived by: his daughters, Deirdre A. Temizer (Dogan H., M. D.) and Kathryn M. Katie Sobey of Framingham; his grandchildren, Serra K., William A, Leila M., Thomas D. and Rose P.; and his brother Sterling Suna Sobey of East Boston. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
