Joseph Ciaramitaro Obituary
Joseph Ciaramitaro, 86, of Gloucester, husband of Rosalie (Orlando) Ciaramitaro, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. Joseph was born in Terrasini, Sicily, on June 20, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Rose Ciaramitaro.
He was a lifelong fixture on the Gloucester waterfront, working as a commercial fisherman, Co-owner Star Fisheries, Supervisor Empire Fish Co., and B&N Fishing Gear. 1982 he purchased the fishing vessel Virginia Surf with great pride and joy, alongside his son-in-law. He managed and shore-captained the vessel for 25 years.
He cherished life's simple yet wonderful things: his family, friends, laughter, and love for life. His home was always filled with people, and Sunday family dinners were what he enjoyed the most. He would spend the winter in Naples, Florida, with many friends and enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, and playing bocce. He was a longtime St. Peter's Club member and loved socializing at Café Sicilia.
He is survived by his children, Rose (Ciaramitaro) Noto and her husband Baldassare Noto, Margaret (Ciaramitaro) Orlando and her husband Antonino Orlando, Joseph Ciaramitaro Jr. and his wife Grace (Clooney) Ciaramitaro. In addition, his sister and brother, Angela (Ciaramitaro) Taormina and her husband Nicolo Taormina, Antonino "Nino" Ciaramitaro and his wife Mary Grace Ciaramitaro, all of Gloucester.
In addition, grandchildren Angela Noto Dimaio and her husband Vincenzo DiMaio, Lia Noto Giacalone and her husband Vito Giacalone, Manuela Orlando Spanks and her husband Chris Spanks, Elise Orlando, Melissa Ciaramitaro, Christina Ciaramitaro, and Joseph Ciaramitaro.
He adored many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his special sister-in-law, Josephine (Orlando) Buccheri. He was predeceased by his sister Agatha (Ciaramitaro) Daleo, and her husband Salvatore Daleo of Detroit, Michigan, sister Elisa Gambino and her husband, Peter Gambino, of Cherry Hill, NJ, brother Carlo Ciaramitaro and his wife Beverly (Stone) Ciaramitaro of Gloucester.
