He was predeceased by: his parent Carmine Chardo. He is survived by: his parent Gilda Chardo (Rappoli); his wife Roseann F. Chardo of Gloucester; his children, Marcey Ann Chardo of Naples, FL, Dos Santos (Douglas) of Naples, FL, Kristen Ann Chardo (Jennifer Wright) of Naples, FL and Leonard C. Chardo Jr. of Marco Island; his siblings, Karen Cardwell (Michael) of Oak Park, CA and Edward T. Chardo (Vicki Lee) of Santee, SC; his nieces, Sarah McLellan (Ian) of Melrose and Breanna Gooch (Ted) of Thousand Oaks, CA; and his nephew Alex Chardo of Falmouth, ME.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Service Dog Project Inc., 37 Boxford Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
