Lillian R. Linquata Obituary
Lillian Rose (Ciulla) Linquata, 90, of Magnolia, passed away on February 21, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Michael Linquata and they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her.
Lillian was born in Everett, Massachusetts on April 26, 1931, to Lawrence and Rose (Ciulla) Ciulla. She moved to Gloucester as a young child and was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1949.
She and Michael married on February 17, 1952. In her early years of marriage, she devoted her life to raising her four children. When her children were older, Lillian turned her attention to learning accounting and to running the office at The Gloucester House Restaurant. Later, she and her husband Michael began The Seven Seas Whale Watch. She was a fixture around Seven Seas Wharf until she retired in 1994 to spend time with her grandchildren.
Lillian loved entertaining and cherished time with family and friends. She kept an immaculate home and was an exceptional cook, though her true passion was gardening. She took great pride in planting and tending to the flowers around her pool in Magnolia during the summer months. In later years, she and Michael spent winters in Naples, Florida. Lillian was a devout Catholic and a woman of strong faith. She was often seen praying the rosary with special intentions for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Lillian is survived by her sons, Leonard and his wife Dorothy, Lawrence, and Michael, all of Gloucester; daughter, Anne Rose Mortillaro of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Lawrence Linquata of Phoenix, Arizona, Lillian Austin and her husband Joseph of Los Angeles, California, Nina Linquata of Phoenix, Arizona, David Linquata of Gloucester, and Eleonora and Vincent Mortillaro of Boulder, Colorado; brother, Anthony Ciulla and his wife Mary Ann, and sister-in-law, Rose Ciulla; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Jodie.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Augustus "Gus" Ciulla; sister, Josephine Sanfilippo and her husband Accursio, and sister, Catherine "Kay" Rodolosi and her husband Laurent.
The Linquata Family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester on Saturday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during the Mass. Visiting hours and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
